"enny1" can write creatively—and it's loads of fun!
enny1 is a pop-rock band from Salt Lake County, Utah, formed by longtime friends Kyle Christensen, Ryan Clawson, Travis Thorup, and Cameron Webb.
Led by lead singer and songwriter Ryan Clawson—also an avid poet and author (look for his book, To Live the Truth, coming out later this year)—the band combines pop-rock music and education to inspire students’ creativity.
The Show
In a high-energy, 45-minute assembly, enny1 demonstrates how music and writing go hand in hand. Through contemporary pop and rock, students discover that “enny1 (anyone) can write creatively—and it’s loads of fun!”

Key elements of the program:
Literary Devices in Action: The band shows how similes, metaphors, and imagery fuel not just great writing specifically, but all great art, and, indeed, all thought. As Robert Frost observed, ”An idea is a feat of association, and the height of it is a good metaphor.”
Live Music: The band demonstrates this fact by playing some catchy original songs rich in metaphorical ideas, as well as some of today’s popular hits, such as “Firework” by Katy Perry and “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift.
Student Collaboration: A highlight of the show is inviting a student on stage to help the band write and perform a brand-new song on the spot, proving firsthand that creativity is accessible to everyone.
This program is more than entertainment—it’s a fun educational experience that:
• Reinforces key ELA concepts (similes, metaphors, & figurative language).
• Sparks excitement for creative expression through music and writing.
• Boosts student confidence by showing them they can create something meaningful in real time.
